Description

We are seeking an experienced, committed and dynamic Development Digital Marketing Manager to join the Children's Defense Fund’s (CDF’s) Development team and help us raise funds for programs that make a difference in the lives of children. We are a national non-profit organization that is passionate about making a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable population. We are also in an exciting time of building out a new approach to fundraising for CDF. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).

CDF educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventive investments before they get sick, drop out of school, get into trouble or suffer family breakdown.

CDF began in 1973 and is a private, nonprofit organization supported by individual donations, foundation, corporate and government grants.

 

Position Overview

 

Working closely with the CDO, other Development department staff, and the CDF Communications team, the Development Digital Marketing Manager will be directly responsible for managing specific fundraising campaigns and for coordinating or facilitating the completion of other fundraising campaigns in conjunction with the CDO, other Development team members and external marketing vendors.

 

Responsibilities

 

  1. Manage the fundraising content and functionalities on CDF’s website in coordination with the CDO and the CDF Communications team.

  2. Manage an active and dynamic SEO and SEM program for CDF’s website in close conjunction with the CDO, other Development staff and the CDF Communications team.

  3. Actively participate and serve as Development’s primary representative in a cross-department team for dynamic A/B and other testing designed for continuous website optimization.

  4. Actively manage content, messaging and story resource for all third party online charitable donation platforms including but not limited to Network for Good, MightyCause (formerly Razoo), Benevity, the National Christian Foundation, etc.

  5. Coordinate campaign-specific digital fundraising schedule and annual calendar for CDF’s digital marketing program in conjunction with the CDO and other Development team members.

  6. Monitor and analyze all relevant metrics and analytics for CDF’s digital marketing program, including CDF’s website, e-marketing, social media and other paid digital advertising, etc. Based on results recommend adjustments or changes within specific campaigns and/or overall online fundraising efforts.

  7. Develop and coordinate paid advertisements with a fundraising Call to Action (CTA) for CDF-related social media in conjunction with the CDO, other Development team members, the CDF Communications team, the CDF national Policy team when appropriate, nd external marketing vendors.

  8. Establish and monitor progress against digital marketing fundraising goals for specific CDF digital campaigns as part of CDF’s annual revenue goals.

  9. Ensure copy, photo resource, video resource and story content are fresh, , accurate, on message, and rotated on a regular, strategic, scheduled basis for CDF website fundraising/donor content, and across all third party online giving platforms with which CDF participates.

  10. Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of CDF digital marketing program reports with respect to current results and future plans in coordination with the CDO and external marketing vendors.

  11. Coordinate when appropriate with external parties for digital or online marketing initiatives for which CDF is a featured charity.

  12. Manage and complete additional assignments from the CDO, and assist when appropriate and possible with other Development team initiatives and projects.
     

Qualifications

 

  • At least two years of experience in digital marketing and five years of experience with general marketing. Experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or nonprofit programs is strongly preferred;

  • Demonstrated passion for CDF’s mission;

  • Demonstrated ability to write and develop creative content which targets a variety of distinct digital audiences;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in writing succinctly with excellent grammar, spelling and proof-reading. Excellent writing and attention to detail is imperative;

  • Ability to produce high quality documents utilizing Microsoft Office including proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to create charts and graphs which visually convey complex data or concepts;

  • Work effectively and collaboratively with CDF Development team members, staff from other CDF departments and offices, , and occasionally CDF board members;

  • A self-starter, capable of working independently and under tight and sometimes competing deadlines. Ability to manage multiple conflicting deadlines and maintain disciplined adherence to individual and team goals;

  • This position may require occasional travel;

  • Experience and proficiency in working with marketing and design software and donor database software, preferably Raiser's Edge strongly preferred;

  • Commitment to continual learning and professional development; keep pace with ever-changing best practices in digital marketing;

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
