Description

Job Title: Team Finance Fellow

Overview:

The objective is to improve and support the team’s and league’s finance and labor practices, build organizational capabilities, design overall strategy, and marshal resources that optimize our overall effectiveness. We provide ready-to-implement technology solutions, sharpen the overall processes related to expenses, revenues, and filing across the NBA family.

Skills:

  • Strong MS Excel skills including macros, reporting/data visualization, and automation
  • Familiarity finance-related platform such as Power BI and SAP encouraged, but not required
  • Some foundational knowledge in database management and comfort level with learning new systems and technology
  • Considerable knowledge and experience with finance, accounting, or economics-based roles or coursework
  • Ability to understand business challenges and use data to problem solve

Responsibilities:

  • Use MS Excel to assist with current reports as well as build new custom and dynamic reporting
  • Review existing reports and recommend and implement improvements on data visualization and efficiency
  • Manage data entry when needed and design templates to more easily aggregate and mass upload for future state
  • Assist business in coding questions, billing requisition forms, wire requests, COR questions and set up
  • Review aging AR on biweekly basis and establish cadence
  • Create refresh files for Team & League
  • Extract/Refresh monthly drills and review for discrepancies

Potential Projects:

  • Set up payroll process for 2K League Season 6
  • Deep dive on cash metrics and cash modeling
  • Adaptive loads/consolidation
  • Assist in review of WNBA Gate Receipts Reports
  • Jersey patch contract and rate card reviews
  • Perform tie-out procedures over the following:
    • Year end accounting memo
    • July revenue sharing placemats
  • Assist with May/June team projection vetting files (e.g., jersey patch, cable)
  • Roll forward of certain files:
  • CFS Actuals Templates for 22-23 audit
  • August 2023 Projection Template
  • Ad hoc requests at end of BRI audit
  • Planning activities for summer CFO meeting

To participate in the HBCU Fellowship Program, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including having received a booster when eligible.
