Position Summary
The Texas office of CDF manages several health coverage campaigns and coalitions: the Child Health Coverage Coalition (CHCC), Cover Texas Now (CTN) and #SickOfITX. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Health Policy in the Texas office, the Program Coordinator will manage projects and activities in support of these campaigns. The primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator will be to support these advocacy initiatives through directly engaging with individuals affected by the lack of health coverage and/or the difficulty in navigating state and federal health coverage programs. The Program Coordinator supports policy, advocacy and campaign development and implementation, research and public education in priority areas identified by communities of need. This person will be responsible for working with Children’s Defense Fund staff and partner organizations to help develop and advance CDF’s advocacy agenda in Texas.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of story collection in the service of advocacy campaigns with a demonstrated commitment to and passion for children’s issues with a strong emphasis on marginalized children and advancing racial equity and child well-being.
Responsibilities
Support and promote CDF’s policy and advocacy agenda to improve the odds for all children in the U.S.
Work with other CDF departments, teams, and program staff to develop advocacy strategies at the intersection of policy, direct service, and community engagement.

Type of work environment associated with the job
Indoor, office setting, willingness to travel 4-6 times per year. Must be willing to work flexible hours that will include time outside of the traditional workday including evenings and weekends.
