Job Title: DTC Monetization

Summary:

The DTC Monetization intern will be learning about the day-to-day operations of the NBA Direct-to-Consumer business, particularly with a focus on NBA League Pass and NBA IDs, and how we drive value across the NBA ecosystem by being a connective tissue to the teams, our partners, and our fans. During the intern’s time with us, they will focus on a strategic initiative that will drive both subscriber and member (NBA ID) acquisition in order to help grow the NBA’s own digital businesses and cater to a bigger audience that can be more efficiently targeted. The intern will work collaboratively with the Marketing, Product, Content, and Product Analytics teams as well as the regions to reach our team’s KPIs. Tasks will include.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Shadow multiple positions within the DTC Monetization team to train and learn at all points throughout the customer journey: Subscription & Revenue, Forecasting, Retention, Customer Experience, Growth
    • Support and update the DTC reporting (includes details on our subscribers and revenue by package, region / market, subscription length, etc.) as well as derive insights based on what is driving our key metrics for both our cross-functional partners and senior leadership
    • Benchmark NBA League Pass against both direct and indirect competitors on key metrics such as monthly sign-ups, retention, free trial conversion rate, and number of app installs to build a monthly competitive analysis report
    • Review customer service tickets for learnings by creating a summary breakdown of these technical issues and feedback directly from our users; derive direct customer insights from ratings and reviews from app stores as well as technical issue and feedback reports from Zendesk
    • Assist in preparing information and research materials for upcoming meetings (SLT, ACMC, DTC Weekly Performance Review, etc.)
    • Take notes during meetings and provide meeting follow-up materials for the DTC Monetization team

Weekly Projects:

    • Week 1: Meet with all Monetization team members 1-on-1 to get an understanding of respective roles, read all onboarding materials
    • Week 2: Begin shadowing positions, along with researching and compiling materials for final project
    • Week 3: Begin weekly tasks for Monetization team across internal reporting, competitive analysis and customer service (e.g., reviewing customer service tickets, preparing materials for meetings, etc.)
    • Week 4: Create initial outline(s) of capstone project deliverables for sign off
    • Week 5: Finalize outline(s) for capstone project
    • Week 6: Begin construction of capstone project
    • Week 7: Send first draft of capstone project to direct managers for review
    • Week 8: Complete capstone project
    • Week 9: Present final deliverable to Monetization team
    • Week 10: Intern program review with direct managers
